Second Solo Show?… in a month?
Hartford is where I am currently based from. So obviously, I should’ve had a show there…
The reason why i decided to make a debut in New Haven is because I felt more of a supportive Art Scene there, a bit more than Hartford—just being honest in my perspective. Don’t get me wrong, there is an amazing plethora of talented artists in Hartford— Hartford truly does have it—though the artists and the arts aren’t highlighted that much (unless it’s one of the several murals in the city). I like that there are some groups doing something here and there, though there should be a collective. Be separate but together, and give other artists a chance to showcase their work publicly as well. I do see a bit of efforts to give the art scene an “exclamation point”. To get Hartford to where it could be will take some time and a lot of hands.
Now, back to the art show.
There were requests, suggestions, and questions about why Hartford wasn’t the first stop. I do realize that I should’ve done that sooner, though I have no regrets of showing in New Haven. Only the day the reception— a very wet Tuesday evening.
The second show was even more beautiful. I decided to add to more statement paintings and 5 smaller accent paintings. In a different style and similar concept.
This show is Technically the Artist Talk scheduled from August. Though I wanted to treat this like a whole new project—and THAT I did. The artist talk was moderated by Bizzie Ruth, founder of The Photobooth LLC. .
I was blessed enough to have been able to use the space of 12 Charter Oak Place, collectives business and studio space to BBSU, Mutual Aid Hartford, CourtVision, etc. And also blessed to have been sponsor with drinks from LongView Cider House.
