Now what?
Now that Pomology has ended —though there are a few viewing dates—what’s next for me?
Well, during the Artist Talk I realized that, though I’ve written about what my work means to me, I still need to strengthen my communication skills. Part of this could have be because…
I tend to be naturally reserved,
and not always comfortable speaking up in large groups of people. (My voice tends to shake).
From that experience, I want to practice talking about my work more often.
My inbox may currently be void of requests for Artist Talks or Panel Discussions…but what I do have it social media. And within the next few weeks, including November, there will be Open Studios. That will give me the opportunities. For the people that come by i will practice talking about my art to them. Building
“Rapport”and “connection”.
For Art, I’m really starting to see how important that is.
What’s the story? What was the intention? What are you trying to say?
All these questions i think are questions we should always ponder as creatives. These questions add value to the piece. Even if the intention was to create something beautiful and aestheically pleasing; it all adds to the overall value of your artwork.
